The National Association of Wheat Growers has appointed Anthony Peña as its new policy manager, bringing experience in government relations and infrastructure advocacy to the role.

Peña previously served as government relations manager at the Pacific Northwest Waterways Association, where he worked on transportation infrastructure, waterway maintenance, and trade logistics—key issues for wheat growers.

“We are thrilled to welcome Anthony to our policy team at this critical time for wheat growers,” said Chandler Goule, NAWG CEO. “His combination of association advocacy experience and congressional background will be invaluable as we work to advance policies that support the vitality of America’s wheat industry.”

Peña’s background also includes years working for U.S. Senator Patty Murray as regional district director and representative. A native of Vancouver, Washington, he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Eastern Washington University.

With wheat growers facing ongoing challenges related to infrastructure, trade, and competitiveness, Peña’s expertise will help shape NAWG’s policy efforts. His experience navigating legislative and regulatory issues will be critical as the association continues to advocate for solutions that strengthen the wheat industry.

“I’m honored to join the National Association of Wheat Growers and build on my experience advocating for the infrastructure that wheat growers depend upon,” Peña said. “Having worked on waterway issues critical to moving wheat to market, I understand the interconnected challenges facing the industry. I look forward to working directly with wheat producers to learn more and advance the policies that enhance their competitiveness and profitability.”
