Movopack secures seed funding to launch its sustainable, reusable e-commerce packaging solutions in the UK, leveraging the Royal Mail network to combat packaging waste and meet growing sustainability demands.

Movopack, a Milan-based startup pioneering circular sustainable, and reusable e-commerce packaging, has secured a £2M seed funding round to launch its sustainable solutions in the UK. Led by 360 Capital, with participation from Greiner Innoventures and Techstars, this funding will support Movopack’s mission to combat the packaging waste crisis while providing cost-effective and reusable options for e-commerce retailers.

As the EU prepares to mandate reusable packaging for online retail—targeting 10% by 2030 and 50% by 2040—Movopack is stepping in to meet both legislative requirements and consumer demand for eco-friendly solutions. With UK retailers increasingly prioritising sustainability, Movopack’s innovative sustainable, reusable e-commerce packaging provides a practical way to align environmental goals with customer expectations.

Tackling e-commerce packaging waste with sustainable, reusable solutions

Movopack’s circular sustainable, reusable e-commerce packaging leverages the Royal Mail network to simplify returns. Consumers can return used packaging through any of the 115,000 post boxes across the UK, creating a seamless process that encourages retailer adoption.

The company’s durable packaging, crafted from recycled PET bottles and polypropylene, can be reused up to 20 times, dramatically cutting resource use compared to single-use alternatives. A Life Cycle Assessment by Life Cycle Engineering reveals that Movopack packaging reduces CO₂ emissions by 84%, energy consumption by 80%, and water consumption by 76% over its lifecycle.

CEO and co-founder Tomaso Torriani highlighted the growing demand for sustainable practices:

“This funding round demonstrates the growing enthusiasm for Movopack’s potential to transform the e-commerce industry with sustainable, circular packaging solutions. We’re particularly excited about this investment as it enables us to launch in the UK at a time when the demand for sustainable solutions has never been stronger. Consumers and brands alike are seeking impactful ways to contribute to a world where societies and economies can grow and thrive without compromising the environment—and we are here to meet that need. At Movopack, we’re working on making sustainability not just an option, but a standard in e-commerce.”

Addressing fragmentation in sustainable e-commerce packaging

Movopack’s unique value lies in its ability to combine affordability, scalability, and digital integration—an area often overlooked in sustainable packaging solutions. By launching in the UK, the company is poised to become a leader in the growing market for reusable e-commerce packaging.

Lucrezia Lucotti, Partner at 360 Capital, shared her excitement for Movopack’s potential:

“To date, sustainable packaging for e-commerce has garnered growing attention; however, it continues to be marked by fragmentation, and, notably, a lack of digital integration. We are backing the movement to make e-commerce more sustainable through our investment in Movopack’s returnable e-commerce packaging. As they launch in the UK, we believe Movopack is perfectly positioned to lead the charge in transforming how brands implement sustainable practices, and we are glad to support their mission.”

A milestone for the circular economy

Movopack’s expansion aligns with Greiner Innoventures’ focus on advancing sustainable practices in packaging. Lukas Seemann, Senior Investment Manager at Greiner Innoventures, explained:

“Our investment in Movopack reflects our commitment to driving innovation within the packaging industry, particularly in offering sustainable approaches. By supporting Movopack, we are investing in a promising startup dedicated to reusable packaging solutions, which aligns with our strategic focus on circular economy initiatives.”

Moving towards a sustainable standard

Founded by high school friends Tomaso Torriani (CEO), Alberto Cisco (CCO), and Andrea Cipollone (COO), Movopack aims to make sustainability the norm in e-commerce. With its UK launch and Royal Mail partnership, the company is positioned to lead the charge in circular e-commerce packaging, helping businesses meet regulatory targets and achieve meaningful environmental impact.

As Movopack takes the next step in its journey, it is not just offering a solution but reshaping how e-commerce retailers—and their customers—think about sustainability.
