Smart ordering kiosks: Deliverect acquires Tabesto to enhance in-store restaurant experience

Deliverect Smart ordering kiosks

Deliverect acquires Tabesto to enhance in-store restaurant experiences with smart ordering kiosks, expanding its digital solutions across Europe.

Deliverect, a leading food tech SaaS unicorn from Ghent, Belgium, has announced its acquisition of Tabesto, a pioneer in smart ordering kiosk and payment technology. This strategic move is set to empower restaurants across the UK, France, Benelux, Spain, and Switzerland with cutting-edge tools to digitise in-store operations and elevate customer experiences.

With Tabesto’s expertise in self-service kiosks, Deliverect will expand its omnichannel offerings to include seamless in-store ordering alongside its established online solutions. This marks a significant step for Deliverect, which already powers digital operations for over 50,000 establishments worldwide, including brands like Burger King and Pret A Manger.

Transforming restaurant queues into opportunities with smart ordering kiosks

Imagine walking into your favourite restaurant during a busy lunch hour. Instead of waiting in a long queue to place your order, you head straight to a sleek, intuitive kiosk that not only processes your order in seconds but also offers tailored recommendations. This is the future that Deliverect smart ordering kiosks, powered by Tabesto, aims to bring to life.

Research indicates that the global self-service market is expected to grow from $40B in 2022 to $63B by 2027, highlighting the demand for technologies that simplify and streamline operations. With Tabesto’s smart ordering kiosk, restaurants can reduce queues, optimise order-taking, and boost sales by as much as 30%.

“At Deliverect, our vision has always been to help the food service community thrive in the digital age,” said Zhong Xu, CEO and co-founder of Deliverect. “Today’s consumer wants the best of both worlds –– they’re looking for speed alongside a premium experience. The acquisition of Tabesto enables us to further support both on- and off-premise ordering experiences. Allowing restaurants to manage their menus and operations centrally across all their digital channels. We remain committed to this goal––exploring options to further expand the coverage of Deliverect into other regions organically as well as through M&A––and are thrilled to have Tabesto’s technology and brilliant team join Deliverect in this mission.”

Customisation meets simplicity with advanced smart ordering kiosks

Tabesto’s kiosks offer a host of features that make them adaptable to various restaurant setups. With integration capabilities for existing point-of-sale systems and payment terminals, they provide secure and flexible payment options. Operators can effortlessly edit and synchronise kiosk menus with other digital channels, streamlining operations and reducing complexity.

“Tabesto enables a seamless and flexible payment experience, offering restaurants secure, versatile, and efficient payment options,” Deliverect noted.

For Tabesto’s existing 1,500 customers, the acquisition promises continuity of service with added access to Deliverect’s global resources, empowering them to enhance their omnichannel capabilities.

“We’re thrilled to join forces with Deliverect, a leader in food tech innovation,” said Guillaume Hourmant, Tabesto’s CEO and co-founder, who will now serve as Head of Deliverect Kiosk. “This acquisition allows both of our companies to amplify our shared mission to transform the restaurant industry through digital solutions. By integrating our all-in-one ordering and payment kiosks with Deliverect’s extensive SaaS ecosystem, we can help more restaurants worldwide embrace the power of digitisation, driving efficiency and elevating the dining experience. This partnership marks an exciting new chapter for our team and the industry as a whole.”

The bigger picture for Deliverect

The Tabesto acquisition is part of Deliverect’s broader strategy to become a global leader in digital food ordering solutions. Following innovations like Deliverect Pulse, which enhances marketing intelligence while improving visibility and ROI among third-party delivery apps, and Deliverect Retail, designed for grocery and convenience sectors, this deal positions the company for continued growth across Europe and beyond.

Deliverect will gain 60 new employees as part of the deal, with Guillaume Hourmant acting as Head of Deliverect Kiosk. Hourmant will be responsible for ongoing product strategy. Deliverect plans to extend its kiosk technology further across Europe and globally over the next year, supporting its mission to provide a complete ecosystem for digital food sales.

A recipe for growth

By combining Tabesto’s kiosk technology with its existing digital ordering solutions, Deliverect is redefining the future of restaurant operations. Whether it’s enabling real-time menu management, reducing queue times, or boosting sales, Deliverect’s comprehensive approach ensures that its clients are equipped to thrive in an increasingly digital-first world.
