Pulsetto secures €2M to expand vagus nerve stimulation tech into defence

Pulsetto founders

Vilnius-based healthtech startup Pulsetto specialises in vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) for stress relief, mental resilience, and sleep optimisation. In a recent development, the company secured a €2 million investment from Scalewolf, a Lithuanian dual-use technology accelerator and VC fund.

Expansion into military and defence applications

This funding allows the company to expand it’s technology beyond the wellness market into defence applications, benefiting soldiers and frontline personnel dealing with stress and mental fatigue.

Pulsetto’s latest investment underscores its potential for military use, where stress, mental fatigue, and decision-making under pressure are critical challenges. The company aims to help soldiers, first responders, and high-performance professionals maintain sharpness, resilience, and endurance under extreme conditions.

Scalewolf’s involvement, alongside the Lithuanian Ministry of Economy and Innovation, further validates Pulsetto’s capability as a dual-use technology, a solution with both commercial and defense applications. Soldiers, emergency personnel, and security forces often face prolonged exposure to high-stress situations, which can take a toll on both physical and psychological health. Pulsetto’s technology could become a valuable tool for enhancing their recovery, cognitive function, and stress management.

Science-backed approach to stress management

Founded in 2021 by Povilas Sabaliauskas and Vitalijus Majorovas, Pulsetto specialises in wearable VNS technology designed to engage the parasympathetic nervous system, helping the body transition from fight or flight to rest and digest. This is achieved through gentle electrical impulses delivered via a hands-free device, controlled through a mobile app.

Pulsetto’s neuromodulation technology offers a non-invasive solution to managing stress, improving sleep, and supporting mental resilience. Given the increasing global focus on mental well-being, its approach provides a practical, science-backed option for those struggling with stress and anxiety.

Rapid growth and prospects

This funding round follows Pulsetto’s earlier success, including a €400k investment on Lithuanian Shark Tank and a feature in a Netflix documentary, leading to a €20 million valuation. The company is gaining international attention for its cutting-edge wearable technology, positioning itself at the forefront of the healthtech and defence-tech sectors.

With the growing interest in wearable health solutions, Pulsetto’s ability to bridge wellness and defense applications could set a new standard for mental health support in high-stakes environments.

“The modern battlefield isn’t just about physical endurance–it’s about mental resilience. Stress, anxiety, and burnout pose as much of a risk to military personnel as physical fatigue. Our technology helps individuals reset their nervous system, and maintain peak cognitive performance,” said Povilas Sabaliauskas, CEO and Co-founder of Pulsetto.

“Pulsetto is addressing one of the most overlooked challenges in defense: mental endurance. We invest in startups that solve real-world problems, and the demand for psychological resilience solutions in the military is undeniable. Especially seeing what’s happening in Ukraine still to this day. Soldiers, first responders, and security personnel operate under extreme stress every day. Pulsetto’s ability to help them recover faster and stay focused makes it a game-changer,” said Edvinas Kerza, Managing Partner at Scalewolf.
