Proma Nautiyal’s entrepreneurial journey began in 2016, the same year her son was born. Driven by an unstoppable energy and love for her work, Proma didn’t want to step away from her career even as she embraced motherhood. “Work keeps me alive and kicking,” she says. As freelancing assignments poured in, Proma realized it was time to take a leap and build something bigger. On August 15, 2016, DigiWitch was born—a marketing agency with a focus on providing impactful solutions to businesses across industries.
Proma’s path to marketing, however, wasn’t linear. With a background in finance, including a Bachelor’s degree and an MBA, she started her career at Deloitte as a tax consultant. But the creative pull was irresistible. “I craved a creative outlet,” she explains. She began blogging, which soon evolved into a full-fledged career in marketing. Now, with over 12 years in the industry, Proma brings both analytical and creative expertise to her work.
Challenges and Solutions: Building Systems for Success
While lead generation was never an issue, Proma faced challenges in hiring the right talent and managing client expectations. “Hiring the right people was an issue initially—and, truth be told, it still is,” she admits. Additionally, the absence of proper systems led to burnout. Recognizing this, Proma introduced structured processes to ensure smooth operations and quality output. These step-by-step systems not only solved delivery issues but also became a cornerstone of her work with new solopreneurs and professionals. “The more you run your business like a well-oiled machine, the more time you have to innovate and grow,” she says.
Staying Resilient: The Long Game in Marketing
Proma likens marketing to the stock market: “You might not see the goals you wish to see in the short term, but long-term belief yields amazing results.” Educating clients about the value of patience in marketing often led to challenging conversations. To address this, Proma made it a priority to set clear expectations from the outset. “If you’ve brought in a specialist, let them do their job and trust the process,” she asserts. This approach fostered mutual confidence between her and her clients, reducing burnout and strengthening relationships.
Advice for Entrepreneurs: Focus on Values and Let Go of Failure
Proma’s advice to entrepreneurs is rooted in resilience and values. “Don’t take failure to heart—it’s not the end, just a lesson,” she says. She emphasizes the importance of hiring people who align with your values and culture over their resume. “Skills can be taught, but attitude and mindset cannot,” she explains. Staying open to new ideas and embracing mistakes as part of the journey have been key to her success.
Proud Milestones: Recognition and Impact
Proma recalls several proud moments in her journey, from being featured on Zee Café as a leader who persevered through challenges to receiving rave reviews for her non-fiction book, For the Love of Writing. Another memorable moment was when people began addressing her as DigiWitch—a name that still brings a wide smile to her face.
Vision for the Future: Empowerment Through Awareness
Proma’s vision is twofold: enabling entrepreneurs through DigiWitch’s marketing services and supporting others in starting their entrepreneurial journey with Mind Ur Business, her initiative that blends self-awareness with business acumen. “I want to pioneer the space of blending self-awareness and business,” she explains, highlighting the intricate connection between psychology, mental health, and marketing.
Proma believes that understanding oneself is a key building block for any successful business. “I want to bring this fabric of self-awareness and psychology under the microscope and help more people learn how to weave it into their businesses and lives.”
Through her work, Proma Nautiyal is redefining what it means to thrive—not just as an entrepreneur but as an individual—making a lasting impact in the world of business and beyond.
