The latest Tech Funding News event, “Pitch Perfect! Mastering Media & PR,” brought together industry leaders to explore modern PR strategies, challenge traditional approaches, and offer fresh perspectives on media relations in the tech sector.
The panel, featuring Akansha Dimri, TFN founder and EIC; Polina Lorelli, founder and CEO of PL Communications; and Dina Mostovaya , founder and CEO of Mindset Consulting, brought a wealth of expertise to the table. They shared expert insights on navigating public relations, crafting compelling narratives, building journalist relationships, and leveraging media coverage for business growth.
Hosted at The Other House in South Kensington on March 25, 2025, the event created an intimate atmosphere for meaningful networking, limiting attendance to 50 approved participants. The format combined a focused 45-minute panel discussion with two hours of networking, enabling attendees to forge valuable connections within the London tech scene.
And here’s how it went!
Beyond the headlines: the art of story placement

The panel reframed the discussion around PR success metrics, providing practical insights. Polina Lorelli shared a crucial insight: “We had a very needed conversation on how founders can stand out in today’s noisy landscape — and ways in which strategic PR can be used to drive commercial results. Grateful to have been invited to speak alongside Dina and Akansha. Big thanks to Tech Funding News for hosting and spotlighting the role of modern media in scaling tech-for-good impact.” This was further reinforced through practical discussions on aligning PR strategies with business goals, from immediate impact to long-term positioning.
The dialogue also emphasised a refined approach to media placement, specifically tailored to the tech industry. The panelists explained that success extends beyond coverage in prominent outlets. They showed how different stories require different platforms, with niche publications often providing more valuable opportunities. This insight proved especially relevant for technical topics, such as communicating complex climate tech stories in accessible formats.
Post-coverage strategy: why PR work doesn’t stop there?
The event explored an often-overlooked aspect: what happens after securing media coverage. Dimri said, “I think it was one of the best events in London when it comes to media coverage tips. I’ve been receiving so many compliments, and we’re now planning to take this series across other European countries this year. With TFN events, our goal is to bring together VCs, founders, and media comms in a relaxed, warm setting where real relationships can grow and existing ones can deepen.”
On this, Mostovaya concluded, “Our conversation was full of real-life stories and examples, and we discussed current tech founder issues. Many entrepreneurs and investors are interested in understanding the journalist’s path and their struggles. I received warm feedback after the talk, many attendees said it was informative and insightful.”
Breaking barriers: Women in tech media
A compelling segment addressed the systemic challenges female founders face in tech media. The panel explored questions about diversity in coverage, especially within male-dominated fields like tech and energy. The discussion provided practical solutions for overcoming visibility barriers and ensuring diverse voices in industry conversations.
The panelists also shared actionable insights tailored for early-stage founders, addressing key questions around strategic communication. They explored how founders can leverage PR to build credibility with investors, when the right time is to invest in professional PR support, and how media coverage can be strategically used to drive meaningful business outcomes.
