RepScan founders

RepScan, a Spanish online content removal and digital reputation management startup, has raised €3 million in Series A funding. The investment round saw participation from Swanlaab Venture Factory, Bonsai Partners, Pinama Capital 23, Boyser, and prominent business angels, including Oriol Carulla and Josep María Frigola. The funding process was coordinated by Raúl Costa from Rote Capital.

Scaling up with RepScan 2.0

A significant portion of the newly raised funds will be used to commercialise RepScan 2.0, a self-management tool designed to help businesses and individuals proactively monitor and remove harmful online content. This next-generation platform will be officially unveiled at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona on 6 March at the Ágora Stage. Additionally, RepScan will showcase its capabilities at 4YFN.

RepScan 2.0 is a cutting-edge B2B SaaS solution that empowers businesses and professionals to take control of their online reputation. Its key features include:

  • Quick setup: Clients can define specific keywords and brands they wish to monitor directly from the dashboard.
  • Smart scanning: Real-time monitoring of Google and social media platforms to detect harmful content.
  • Fast removal and mitigation: Automated takedown requests to minimize the impact of negative online content.
  • Comprehensive reports: Real-time analytics and in-depth reporting to keep clients informed about their digital reputation.

Additionally, part of the funding will go towards strengthening RepScan’s 24/7 urgent negative content removal service, reinforcing the company’s position as a leader in digital rights protection.

A vision for the future

RepScan was founded in 2019 by entrepreneur and lawyer Josep Coll Rodríguez alongside Alejandro Castellano and Coque Moreno. The idea was born after Rodríguez’s relative expressed concerns over personal photos posted online. This incident highlighted the urgent need for an effective online reputation management solution.

The company envisions a future where digital reputation control is a fundamental right. As the world becomes increasingly interconnected, online presence will continue to play a crucial role in personal and professional success.

RepScan is committed to helping people worldwide detect and remove harmful online content using cutting-edge technology. Through innovative solutions like RepScan 2.0, the company continues to set new standards in digital reputation management, providing individuals and businesses with the tools they need to safeguard their online image.

Global reach and impact

To date, RepScan has successfully removed over 40,000 pieces of harmful content from the internet for more than 1,600 clients in 62 countries. From false reviews and identity theft to cyberbullying and intimate content leaks, it provides a vital service in protecting individuals and businesses from the damaging effects of negative online exposure.

Josep Coll, co-founder and president of RepScan, stated: “At RepScan, we have secured this funding with the goal of defending the digital rights of individuals and businesses and launching our solution globally for the self-management of harmful online content removal, RepScan 2.0. We want it to become an essential tool for communication and advertising agencies, large corporations, law firms, schools, sports organisations, and public administrations, enabling them to legally remove fake news, cyberbullying cases, leaked personal data, false reviews, photos, videos, fake profiles, and identity theft. We aim to change the rules of an internet that, today, is a jungle, democratising the swift removal of harmful online content”.

Mark Kavelaars, founding partner of Swanlaab Venture Factory, said “At Swanlaab, we believe in technology as a driving force to solve the great challenges of the digital era. RepScan democratises digital reputation protection with an innovative and highly scalable solution. We are delighted to support its growth and expansion.”

Nacho Alonso, president of Pinama Capital 23, added: “At PINAMA CAPITAL, we continue to invest in the best opportunities and support exceptional entrepreneurs. RepScan, led by Josep Coll, embodies both qualities, which is why we have invested in this round alongside other leading funds. RepScan’s proposition effectively addresses an increasingly critical need: digital reputation management.”
