Utrecht-based clean tech energy tech company Withthegrid has secured €3.5M in funding to enhance grid flexibility and real-time asset control. The investment includes €2M from Move Energy and €1.5M in debt financing from Rabobank and Nationaal Groenfonds, positioning the company for international expansion and product development.
As Europe accelerates its shift to renewable energy, challenges such as grid congestion and secure data flows have become pressing concerns. Increasing electricity demand, coupled with geopolitical uncertainties, has placed significant pressure on energy infrastructure. Withthegrid’s Teleport Gateway tackles these challenges by enabling real-time control and seamless data integration for more than 450 asset types, including solar inverters, wind turbines, batteries, and EV charging stations. By empowering energy traders, grid operators, and asset owners to manage their energy resources efficiently, Withthegrid plays a crucial role in stabilising the grid while optimising energy distribution. Leading energy firms such as Eneco, Vattenfall, Essent, Vandebron, and Novar rely on this solution to unlock flexibility and capture new market opportunities.
The Teleport Gateway also offers plug-and-play integration with leading analytics and monitoring platforms such as ACCURE and SynaptiQ, alongside Withthegrid’s proprietary Power Quality monitoring solution. This ensures that customers can incorporate real-time data into their existing workflows without disruption, boosting efficiency and responsiveness to dynamic market conditions.
How Withthegrid is scaling security and flexibility
Friso Bensdorp, Partner at Move Energy, underscored the impact of Withthegrid’s technology: “We believe unlocking asset flexibility in a scalable, secure and independent manner is essential to achieving a sustainable energy system. Withthegrid’s achievements with the Teleport Gateway are impressive, particularly in helping asset owners, energy traders, and grid operators manage assets effectively in increasingly congested energy grids.”
Nationaal Groenfonds echoed this endorsement, stating: “We fully support Withthegrid in its further development. The ambitious scale-up and the incremental funding requirements that this brings is generally a delicate phase, and we are proud that we can help Withthegrid break through this and continue its path to further growth.”
Paul Mignot, CEO of Withthegrid, expressed excitement about the successful funding round: “We are pleased to have attracted funding from such reputable and energy sector knowledgeable organisations as Move Energy, Rabobank, and Nationaal Groenfonds. Their confidence in our vision not only validates our business strategy but also propels us forward to achieve our ambitious goals. We look forward to working together as we continue to innovate and grow.”
Withthegrid’s vision of a sustainable energy future
This investment will directly enhance the capabilities of the Teleport Gateway, expand the Teleport Asset Library, and scale operations to support Withthegrid’s European expansion.
Customers will benefit from faster project deployments, greater compatibility with new asset types, and full compliance with European grid operator standards. Strengthened security and data management will also be a key focus, reinforcing the reliability of energy distribution in an increasingly digital energy ecosystem. With a growing number of stakeholders depending on real-time energy insights, Withthegrid is committed to making energy management more transparent, resilient, and adaptable to shifting market demands.
Paul Mignot reinforced the company’s mission: “The energy transition relies heavily on real-time asset control and secure, independent data exchange. With this investment, we are further strengthening our offering and empowering our customers and partners with the required tools to meet the demands of an increasingly digital energy system. Our mission remains clear: to enable reliable and future-proof energy flexibility.”
