In 2024, Corteva Agriscience, through its Corteva Catalyst investment platform, acquired exclusive global rights to the Phenix software developed by Progeny Drone.
In a recent news release, Corteva stated this platform integrates drone-based aerial survey mapping with high-resolution image analytics to support precision crop management by quantifying crop responses to various environmental and management factors.
Phenix will become a core tool for Corteva’s global crop protection field research, enabling digital assessments with advanced functionalities, including:
- Efficient in-field plot mapping and image quantification.
- Reduced data processing times at the field level.
- Enhanced analysis of product trials to improve crop health, weed control, and yield outcomes.
- Support for ongoing development within the Corteva Biologicals business.
This acquisition is expected to streamline workflows, reduce infrastructure requirements, and enable seamless connectivity with existing data systems. Initially, the software will be deployed among Corteva’s crop protection field scientist drone pilots worldwide. It will then be integrated into the company’s agronomic and commercial trial research divisions.
Collaborating with the Purdue Research Foundation, this acquisition underscores Corteva’s focus on leveraging cutting-edge technologies to advance agricultural innovation. The integration of Phenix into its research efforts aims to enhance efficiency and drive impactful results in crop management.
