Collaboration Aims to Advance AI-Driven Agronomic Solutions for U.S. Agricultural Retailers

Syngenta Crop Protection, LLC and Taranis have entered into a multi-year collaboration aimed at enhancing agronomic productivity and promoting conservation practices for agricultural retailers in the U.S., leveraging AI-powered tools and insights.

Syngenta Crop Protection, LLC and Taranis, an AI-powered crop intelligence platform, announced a multi-year collaboration to deliver AI-driven agronomic solutions to agricultural retail partners in the U.S. via a news release. Starting in 2024/2025, the partnership involves a significant investment to support ag retailers in adopting Taranis’ AI platforms, providing remote leaf-level scouting insights and agronomic recommendations powered by generative AI. This initiative aims to enhance decision-making on farms, encourage the adoption of conservation practices, and improve farm profitability.

“We believe this collaboration with Taranis will help retailers tap into the full potential of AI and digital agronomy, unlocking new levels of operational efficiencies,” Paul Backman, head of North America Crop Protection digital agriculture & sustainable solutions, said in the release. “By combining Syngenta’s industry-leading portfolio with Taranis’ AI-driven insights, we empower retailers to deliver better, faster and more precise service to their grower-customers.”

The partnership will advance AI-powered agronomic platforms, integrating Syngenta’s Cropwise platform with Taranis’ crop intelligence solution. Key focus areas include conservation agronomy, agricultural productivity, and AI-enabled agronomic tools.

Syngenta will provide Midwest retailers with access to Taranis’ AI platform, offering high-resolution remote scouting capabilities and threat detection for weed species, insects, diseases, and nutrient deficiencies. Combined with Taranis’ Ag Assistant agronomy engine, this platform enables data-driven agronomic recommendations, supporting Syngenta’s crop protection products and enhancing productivity for retailers and growers.

The collaboration also includes conservation services, allowing retailers to offer growers access to Taranis’ conservation platform, which facilitates conservation funding and streamlines reporting requirements. Future plans aim to integrate Syngenta’s Cropwise Sustainability platform with Taranis’ services, expanding market opportunities for conservation-focused practices.
