Liberty ULTRA herbicide, featuring BASF’s new Glu-L Technology, has been registered by the EPA and is now available for use, pending state approvals.
BASF stated the product offers improved post-emergence control for broadleaf and grass weeds in glufosinate-resistant crops like soybeans, cotton, corn and canola.
According to a BASF news release, Liberty® ULTRA herbicide, powered by Glu-L Technology, has been granted U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) registration and is now approved for use, pending state-specific approvals. This herbicide, which contains the active ingredient glufosinate-P-ammonium, also known as L-glufosinate ammonium, represents the next evolution of BASF’s Liberty herbicide. Designed for post-emergence application, Liberty ULTRA provides effective weed control for both broadleaves and grasses in glufosinate-enabled soybean, cotton, corn, and canola crops.
In research trials, Liberty ULTRA herbicide has shown a 20% improvement in weed control compared to its predecessors and has outperformed generic alternatives in nine out of ten head-to-head comparisons.
“As farmers increasingly rely on glufosinate in their weed management programs, the demand for enhanced efficacy and efficiency of this herbicide is more apparent than ever,” said Matt Malone, Product Manager for BASF Agricultural Solutions, in a recent news release. “With fewer effective knockdown tools available in the U.S., BASF’s Liberty ULTRA herbicide will provide farmers with a post-emergence solution that offers improved performance and convenience, thanks to the new Liberty Lock formulation and BASF’s patented Glu-L Technology.”
