Podcast recording platform Riverside recently raised $30 million in Series C funding. The round was led by Zeev Ventures (backed Exodigo), with participation from Seven Seven Six, and angel investor Sam Lessin. The startup also counts Casey Neistat, Marques Brownlee, Guy Raz, Elad Gil, and Alexander Klöpping as angel investors.
This round brings the total funding raised by the company to $80 million. The new funding will accelerate its product roadmap, with a focus on leveraging AI to further simplify the content creation process. It also plans to hire AI and full-stack engineers and aims to achieve profitability by the end of 2026.
Brainchild of immigrant brothers
Originally from Amsterdam now headquartered in Tel-Aviv, Riverside was founded amidst the pandemic in 2020 by brothers Gideon and Nadav Keyson. They immigrated from Israel to the Netherlands. Initially, they set up a platform to record high-quality audio and video of remote conversations. This progressed into an audio and video recording service used in broadcast media, tech, and entertainment spaces with the ability to produce interviews, podcasts, and internal and external communication videos.
Studio-quality local recording
Riverside empowers creators to produce professional-quality remote podcasts with ease. Offering up to 4K video and crystal-clear audio, it ensures your content stands out. With separate audio and video tracks for precise post-production control, editing becomes simple and efficient. Its browser-based setup eliminates downloads, enabling guests to join via a single click. Auto-uploaded files further streamline the workflow, making Riverside an excellent choice for effortless yet high-quality podcasting.
AI-powered features
Riverside offers AI-driven tools like AI transcribing for automatic transcription in over 100 languages with 99% accuracy. There is an AI-powered editing feature to replace or remove text in the transcript to have it reflected in the video or audio recording. It also offers a Magic Clips feature that creates short-form social media content effortlessly.
These tools are touted to have reduced editing time for companies, including Google, Microsoft, and entertainment powerhouse Marvel. It has been revealed that creators have recorded over 100 million minutes on the platform. As per the company, 80% of top podcasters use its platform.
Use cases
Beyond podcasting, this platform is ideal for webinars, live streams, video interviews, and social media marketing. It includes a teleprompter tool and media board for collaboration during recordings.
Celebrity and brand adoption
High-profile users such as Michelle Obama, Mark Zuckerberg, and The New York Times leverage Riverside for content creation. It’s also used by leading brands like Netflix, Spotify, and Marvel. Earlier this year, Spotify expanded its partnership with Riverside to offer its creators podcast recording and editing tools within the browser window.
Competition
Riverside competes with other remote podcast recording tools out there. These include Podcastle, Zencast, and Camo, among others. By distinguishing itself, the company wants to be a one-stop shop for all things video without being restricted to podcast recording.
