AI-driven supply chain platform Ameba raises $7.1M to boost global expansion

Ameba, an AI-powered platform aimed at transforming supply chain management, has raised $7.1 million in a Seed round led by Hedosophia. Moreover, few other European early-stage investor Visionaries Club reinvested, having led Ameba’s pre-Seed round. Anamcara also participated in this round.

The company, founded in 2023 by Cedrik Hoffmann and Craig Massie, is designed to help brands manage their sprawling supply chains by providing real-time insights through a unified platform. The new funding will enable Ameba to expand into new sectors within the $45.2 billion global supply chain market.

What problem is the startup solving

Supply chain disruptions remain a major challenge for businesses worldwide, particularly in sectors such as fashion, where digital transformation has lagged. Ameba’s platform tackles these issues by using AI to aggregate data from various sources, including emails, PDFs, and Excel files, into a single platform. By providing a “single source of truth,” the platform allows brands to track product status, predict disruptions, and respond to challenges such as bottlenecks and regulatory pressures.

Craig Massie, co-founder and CTO of Ameba, highlighted the inefficiencies companies face, stating, “Brands today juggle data, manage sprawling inventories, and fight fires across their supply chains. They rarely have time to take a step back and look at their supply chain as a whole.” By automating the extraction and integration of data, Ameba allows companies to be more proactive in managing their supply chains.

Ameba’s platform offers significant operational benefits by reducing manual data input by 30% and improving on-time delivery rates. The average supply chain sees delays in 50% of supplier orders, leading to an 8% annual revenue loss due to stockouts. Improving the efficiency of supply chains can yield significant savings; for example, improving supplier on-time delivery can reduce operational costs by up to 20%. Hoffmann emphasized the importance of transforming supply chains, especially in industries like fashion that still rely on outdated methods such as Excel spreadsheets and WhatsApp for supplier communication.

A proactive approach to industry challenges

Ameba is well-positioned to address broader market challenges, such as supply chain fragmentation and the increasing complexity of supplier networks. According to Isabella Yamamoto, Principal at Visionaries Club, companies are battling against increasing complexity, and Ameba’s platform offers a competitive advantage by simplifying these intricate processes. By making supply chains more transparent and agile, Ameba also supports companies in meeting sustainability goals and regulatory requirements, such as the EU’s Digital Product Passports (DPPs).

Supply chain disruptions are not just an inconvenience; they have global economic implications. Delays and inefficiencies contribute to a 62% loss for businesses, while 40% of consumers are willing to switch brands if products are out of stock. Ameba’s AI-driven insights allow companies to mitigate these risks by predicting and preventing disruptions.

Ameba has already attracted a growing customer base, particularly in the consumer goods and home decor sectors. British interior hardware company Plank uses Ameba to manage over 300 products from 20 suppliers across Asia and Europe. Within just three months, the platform identified 140 critical production and delivery delays. More recently, Ameba has moved into the fashion sector, onboarding one of Europe’s leading fashion groups with stores across the Netherlands, Germany, and Belgium.

With the $7.1 million Seed round, Ameba plans to accelerate its expansion into industries that are ripe for disruption, including fashion and textiles. Hoffmann, co-founder and CEO, explained, “We want to transform customers’ operations while meeting them where they are today. With Ameba, we’re turning supply chains from bottlenecks into engines of growth.”

What we think about the startup

As supply chains become more complex and companies face increased pressure to deliver faster, cheaper, and more sustainably, Ameba’s AI-driven platform offers a timely solution. By providing real-time insights and reducing inefficiencies, Ameba enables businesses to not only survive but thrive in a competitive marketplace.

The platform’s ability to reduce operational costs and improve on-time delivery could potentially become the industry standard in the years to come. With its recent funding, Ameba is poised to continue its growth and solidify its position as a key player in supply chain management.
